REWIND project presented at PLASREC

The REWIND Project was showcased at the 3rd International Seminar on Plastic Recycling (PLASREC), organised by AIMPLAS and held in Paterna, Valencia

The REWIND project was presented on the second day of the seminar PLASREC, held at the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia. The event brought together international experts and stakeholders from the polymer recycling sector, providing an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The sessions offered valuable opportunities for REWIND consortium members to share insights and discuss challenges and opportunities in polymer and composite materials recycling.

As coordinator of the REWIND consortium, AIMPLAS dedicated a special session to share the latest project advances to the Intenational Polymers community. The session called “Compliance with recycling targets by sector” featured contributions from  TEXFOR, SOSTENPLAST, ANTOLÍN INGENIERÍA, and AEMAC. It was moderated by Teresa Gerrero from AIMPLAS.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Helena Abril, Brand Manager at AEMAC (Spanish Association of Composite Materials) and leader of communication and dissemination within the REWIND Project. Her talk, entitled “The Myth of the Non-Recyclability of Composite Materials: REWIND and the Wind Energy Sector” provided an overview of composite materials recycling and its evolution across different markets, with a particular focus on the wind energy sector. She highlighted the REWIND Project’s goals and activities related to reusing, recycling, and rethinking materials, emphasising their contribution to improving technical solutions for recycling wind turbine blades and supporting stakeholders in the the wind energy sector.

Additionaly, during networking breaks and the conference dinner, members of the REWIND Project engaged with polymer recycling experts from several countries, fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
